Montana Sugar Cookies

Montana Sugar Cookies
This recipe comes from my mom, Karen Langsather. We made these every year for the holidays as kids and I have continued to make them every year as gifts for my friends. Everyone loves the uniqueness of the walnuts.
Ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup margarine
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 4 cups white unbleached flour
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Cream sugars, with margarine and shortening
- Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Then add dry ingredients
- Chill dough, then roll out with rolling pin
- Use cookie cutters to create the shapes that you want
- Top with chopped walnuts
- Bake at 350° until lightly browned
