Montana Sugar Cookies

This recipe comes from my mom, Karen Langsather. We made these every year for the holidays as kids and I have continued to make them every year as gifts for my friends. Everyone loves the uniqueness of the walnuts.
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup margarine
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 4 cups white unbleached flour
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp vanilla
Cream sugars, with margarine and shortening
Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Then add dry ingredients
Chill dough, then roll out with rolling pin
Use cookie cutters to create the shapes that you want
Top with chopped walnuts
Bake at 350° until lightly browned
